I was just getting around to that.

Name: Jamie
Location:General top drop area
Reason for Swim: Being shit.
Real Reason for Swim: Generally being shit. Making a balls of a line, hitting a tree and having survival instincts kick in before I swam the drop. Hardest i've ever had to haul ass to save a visit to A&E. Managed to clamber out at the last possible spot.
Emotional issues: 1 lost paddle, 1 lost river knife, 1 broken river shoe, 1 battered boat (see above) and one battered confidence.
Pints owing: Dave Pierse, Conor Allen and Tristan.

Don't worry, I'm not trying to steal your international suffix.
We would leave home in the morning and could play all day, as long as we were back before it got dark. No one was able to reach us and no one minded!

Name of Swimmer:Ultan O'Byrne
Date:4/12/2011
Location:eddy line at steps at spanish arch (savege flow for breaking in and out )
Shitty excuse:got cockey and decided to challenge myself by breaking in for the last time as the eddy changed in about 20 mins and had changed and the river ended up getting the better of me capsized and bailed out
Emotional Issues arising from the event:none really nearly lost paddles but swam after them so i didenty have a repeat of the last swim
Persons requiring rescue pints:well i rescued myself and paddle .jamie rescued my boat so i guess i owe him a pint .

Sorry, Dave...

Name of Swimmer: Ross Lynch
Date: 7 December 2011
Location: Kaituna, New Zealand
Shitty excuse: Was having an absolutely appalling run and got stuffed in a hole, after making a balls of the main drop.
Emotional issues arising from the event: Hopefully none, as Huka is next, and a swim wouldn't be good.
Persons requiring rescue pints: Ben and Paulo from France.

Name of Swimmer: Conor McComb
Date: 29/01/2012
Location: Kip
Shitty excuse: Alan got spun backwards and pinned river wide against a rock. I crashed into him, flipped and pinned myself upside down against one of the many rock! Then I bailed!
Emotional Issues arising from the event: Broke my GoPro casing but luckily I have 2 :)
Persons requiring rescue pints: Rescued my own boat, Barry got my paddles.

Name of Swimmer: Aisling Corrigan
Date: 18/02/2012...Varsities :?
Location: Clydagh, 5 step rapid [I think...can't remember the name of that end rapid]
Shitty excuse: In short I just wasn't on form that day. Didn't have enough momentum to begin with coming over that drop, fucked up my line and boof. Got pinned at the bottom, tried rolling a few times but It was never going to happen so...I bailed.
Emotional Issues arising from the event: The fact that I was soo near the finish line when I swam broke my heart a little bit...
Persons requiring rescue pints: Oisin from GMIT who dived in after me and dragged me out. Also, Mr. Regan has to get a mention for a class U rescue on a previous rapid, I hope there's a picture of it somewhere!

I won't forget the snapshot image I got when I glanced over my shoulder and saw andrew hauling you up in the middle of the 5-step right before the lip of the next drop...

Levels were higher than the Captain & Safety weekend, only three colleges made it through without a swimmer. One college had the entire team swimming at once. One broken nose too, and loads of lost gear.
