Interest in doing an RSR2

Postby Ciara.wall » Wed Nov 06, 2019 12:38 pm

A few people have expressed interest in the club running an RSR2 course. If you're interested please express this by commenting below. If there's enough interest I can look into organising one. Feel free to message me with any questions. :hai:

If you are of a Level 3 standard this course would be of great benefit for you. It is very important to keep your safety qualifications in line or if not higher than your river skills qualifications. Also, if you have done a level 1/2 instructor course you need to have an RSR2 cert so this could be a good opportunity to get that box ticked. Thirdly, this training course is a pre-requirement of the Level 4 Kayak Skills Assessment, so if you've any interest in going for your level 4, this is a great time to tick that box.

The RSR2 is a one day course designed for kayakers who wish to undertake relevant training in Safety and Rescue Techniques appropriate for Grade 2 water. The RSR2 aims to develop a culture of safety, awareness and proactive accident prevention in white water sports in Ireland.

The RSR2 aims to enable candidates to:
1. Understand the appropriate equipment for Grade 2 water.
2. Develop an understanding of Safe Practices on Grade 2 water.
3. Execute self rescue on Grade 2 water.
4. Rescue of others in Grade 2 water.
5. Rescue of equipment on Grade 2 water.
