Safety & Rescue workshop - Sunday 3rd November

Postby Staples » Thu Oct 24, 2019 7:54 am

Hello there,

There will be a safety and rescues workshop run on the canal and (primarily) lower on the 3rd of November. This is the day after the RWC final, so no clashing in that regard. SHED FOR 1PM, but expect it to take a handful of hours.

Who is this for?
- Everyone who is an instructor on the canal/lower
- Anyone who plans on paddling G3 or above this year. Basically, your rescue skills can be improved unless you can get a swimmer back into their boat between Hygia and O'Briens on a 16-gate lower, while blindfolded with one arm behind your back

Covering
- Moving water X-rescues
- Emptying boats vs boat bashing and when to use either
- Contending with a rowdy/disoriented/scared swimmer
- Group communication/management during a rescue
- MORE to be revealed on the day

Signed up
1) Laoise - afternoon
2) JRob
3) Jack Kenny
4) Ben - afternoon
5) Ciara
6) Michael Lane
7) Kelsey Bruce

I'll go if it's afternoon time, the later the better for me.
