Varsities Info & Bus sign-up

Postby Alan O'D » Sun Feb 12, 2012 8:21 pm

Cost: €30 Originally we were going to charge €40 for this. However, like last year there will be a charge for the parties both nights. GMITC are selling wristbands on Friday for €15. This gives you entry to the Royal both nights. The Royal charge €10 in every night, so this is cheaper than the regular cost of getting in there. Also bear in mind you'll spend a few quid in taxis home to the hostel both nights, so we've set the price at €30 instead.

GMIT Students: €65. It is up to GMIT Sports Office to give you a subsidy, contact GMIT captain Sean Rodahan with any questions.

Paying: You can give the money to Mark Morley (treasurer), Katie Finnegan (Secretary) or myself. We're usually in the college, or you can pay at this week's Wednesday night talk. If you want to lodge the money to the club account, text/email Mark Morley for the acc details.

Trailer Packing Trailer packing will start at 12pm on Thursday. It's going to take a few hours so if you cant make it for 12 come down when you can and lend a hand. There's canoes and the larger kayaks to be loaded so we'll need all the help we can get.

Buses: This year we have two buses. A 25-seater and a 14-seater.

The 25 seater will be going up for the polo, the 14 seater will be going direct to the hostel later on to accomodate people who cant miss college on Fridays. If you intend to drive email us immediately.

25 Seater: Be at shed at 8.30am, Friday 17th. All polo players on this bus, plus anyone who wants to support the polo team. We need to leave on time to get to castlebar for registration, as NUIG are in one of the first games. Spectators, dress warmly and bring some food etc. as depending on how well NUIG get on, we could (hopefully) be there til after 4pm.

14 Seater: Leaving shed at 5pm., Friday 17th. Going straight to hostel in Westport. If you have college on Friday that you can't miss, take this bus. Hostel is The Oldmill hostel in Westport.

Entertainment Details:
Friday: Pre-drinks in Irish House Bar in Castlebar, 5 min walk to Choice @ The Royal. Live acoustic music and DJ in nightclub.
Saturday: Pre-drinks in Irish House Bar. Fancy dress party in The Royal Theatre with music from Buck Taylor. Theme: Soul Brothers & Soul Sisters, it's all about the love.
€15 wristband can be bought at the polo event for entry both nights. Alternatively its €10 on the door both nights.

Sign up below for which bus you want to go on. Remember the 14-seater is a bus for people who have labs etc. they cant miss, not for people who want a sleep in. If you are going to miss college because of varsities, the sports office will give you a note for your course coordinator which excuses you.

Also don't forget the rule on competing mentioned in the original varsities post. If you don't compete, or we deem you in no fit state to get on the water, you have to pay the remaining amount that we've subsidised for you.

If you are lodging money, make sure to include your name when you lodge it, otherwise the payment generally dosn't get accepted as it will be impossible for Mark to differentiate between who paid.

This is the only way to make sure you gear for the weekend gets brought on the bus, so make sure your there to put it on, or you have asked someone else to make sure to put whatever gear you want on.

Throw me down for the old early bus. Without me cheering them on the polo team might only beat UL by a few points sure, and the job just isn't done unless UL is utterly humiliated in every event this varsities! :P
