Active Consent will facilitate a consent talk for our members on Wednesday October 6th at 8pm. The Zoom link will be shared closer to the time.
The workshop has been expanded this year to include a short online module, upon completion of which members will receive a cert, which can be emailed to email@example.com.
As per the motion passed at the EGM last September, "Require all club members to attend an Active* Consent training (or Committee approved substitute) prior to using club gear for peer paddling", attendance is mandatory if you want to use club gear for peer paddling once restrictions ease. This includes taking playboats to Tuam, GP boats down the Lower, or using any club gear outside of regular, scheduled sessions. It applies to both current students and alumni.
"The Active* Consent Online Workshop specially designed to cater for third level student’s working in an online world. To date, we have delivered this online workshop to over 17,000 students in 22 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Ireland.
This workshop provides a sex-positive safe space where young people can explore the nuances of sexual consent and learn how to practice active consent with partners for more mutually enjoyable sexual experiences. There is no active participation from students required during the online workshop. We stress that this is a safe place that students can use to learn about consent. Students can join the workshop from any device such as their phone or smart tablet." - Active Consent Group, NUIG.
