Re: Private Boat Damaged

Those new threads are fairly expensive, Derry. That's shit about your boat, Ian. Hope it gets sorted out. Also, gear has been going missing from the shed and (less frequently) getting damaged since I joined the club, and likely long before. If you look back through the message board you'll see loads...

Re: "Intermediate" sessions

You need to define where the basic level ends and the advanced level begins. Intermediate obviously sits between. Also, are you talking about basic, intermediate and advanced in terms of the club or in terms of general whitewater paddling? In the club scenario, advanced paddler probably means compet...

Jesus, I don't remember saying that. Pogies are great though. Your fingers want to keep each other warm, they don't want to be seperated.

Name: Ross Lynch Location: Rangitikei Gorge, New Zealand Reason for Swim: I was warned: "she's a bony motherfucker", and sure enough she was. Real Reason for Swim: Silly capsize in a hole and lots of rocks. Emotional issues: Got back out and ran it a few more times, so it's all good. Pints...

Re: FAO First Years: Gear Questions???

Why not save your money for a summer paddling trip? Do you think you need the latest Goretex cag to run the Lower and Boluisce, when 20 years ago people were stitching their own crappy, nylon cags together to go boldly paddle what had never been paddled before? Realistically any cag is only going to...

Re: What do you carry in your repair kit?

Or buy some meths at any hardware shop.

Denso Tape will stick to wet surfaces, which is handy.

Sex wax is the only solution I've seen used on the river, and it worked well.

Good Read

Interesting sea kayaking incident report: http://blog.redalderranch.com/?p=89 Some points very relevant to any type of paddling I think. The one that stood out most for me was that basic safety fundamentals don't stop being true just because someone you perceive as being a more senior paddler than y...

Paddles for Sale

Well-worn, full-carbon, cranked Werner Players for sale. They're short – can't remember the exact length – less than 190cm. 12º feather. Right-hand blade is a little damaged, but still functioning okay. Would make a nice, cheap first paddle. €60 They're in the shed if you want to have a look at them...
