Re: AGM 2018/2019

Adding to Staples' post with motions from the January 2019 EGM, the two items below were passed previously but aren't in the rulebook. Motion - passed previously: Whitewater trips (beyond the Lower Corrib) to be approved in advance by the Safety Officer. The Safety Officer can nominate a select few ...

Re: << $$$ SWIMMERS File $$$ >>

In terms of holes my order of order of tactics would be 1. Avoid (go around)* 2. Boof over small holes/pourovers 3. Tuck under/through really big holes 4. If you get stuck in a side surf, paddle out to one side (not always possible, some holes have a weak point, others keep you in the meat) 5. The o...

Re: EGM 2018/19

Motion: Students studying/working abroad for a semester cannot act on the committee during that time. Motion: For positions other than captain/safety, if a vacancy arises the committee can opt on a new member without an EGM (compliments the first motion and is a common thing anyway but maybe not in...

Re: Coaching course

What's the difference between it and a level 2 instructor course? The L1 instructor training seems a bit pointless. Going by the ICU guidelines a Level 1 instructor can take the group no more than 300m from the put-in; this would rule out low seal launch, high seal launch, bish weir, upriver. If yo...

Re: Jacksonfest 22nd April

The tides are no good for Oranmore/Clifden that weekend so if there's water I'd be up for heading down.

It probably doesn't tie in well with exams and such but if there's interest I could drive down aswell.

Re: Wednesday Night Talk - Movie Night

Dream Result is pretty good. It's centred around Palouse Falls, and unlike Chasing Niagra (sorry for the spoiler) they actually run it.

Solo is worth considering aswell (if you can find a copy of it). It's about a guy trying to paddle from Tasmania to New Zealand.
